Have been working on today's competition for ages but wonder if the clue to part one is totally correct? Anyone else struggling?

Elz7, it's the clues for question 1 that are bothering me, not question 2. I am happy with that!

over18, I'm not prepared to devote all my waking hours to solving this puzzle! I just wondered if anyone else thought there might be a problem with one of the clues. If so, I'll skip this week's puzzle & look forward to next week's instead!

Likewise, I'm a bit confused about "semi-rural" in the question. It is obviously (?) the site of the signing of the Magna Carta but references seem to suggest two (one most people know), but one could be the island?
