MM Links January 2009 [Week 5]
45 Answers
Good Morning AB-Linkers from Queen Meg! This will be my fifth and final week as setter of the MM Link Words. I have only one more round to go before I can retire honourably with a clean sheet. Talking of clean sheets, I haven't always had a clean driving licence (says she, looking suitably contrite). I thought that for this last week, I would talk of my driving skills (or lack of them, I hear the male AB-ers shouting).
My first driving test was a bit of a disaster. When the examiner told me to turn right so I did right into the path of an oncoming lorry! Fortunately only the driving instructor's car suffered injury. Needless to say subsequent tests were always nerve racking, but I eventually passed on the eighth attempt.

Once driving up the M6 over Shap, in a moment of madness, I foolishly decided to race the London to Glasgow Intercity Express. Unfortunately for me, a police car decided to join the race! Needless to say the train won, the police car was second and I got banned for driving at speeds exceeding 100mph. Later years find me more sedate and quite happy to drive within the given speed limits. Ironically, I avoid motorways like the plague nowadays and will not drive on one if I can avoid doing so.
As with the previous four weeks, I shall follow the rules relating the word length as introduced by crofter. Each of my chosen link words contains at least four letters and at most eight. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one or more of your attempts! Each of my selected words may go in front of or after my challenge word. The competition will officially close at 7.00pm on Sunday evening when crofter will declare my selected words, then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past. At that point the January Champion will be named and the February setter decided.
My fifth and final set of words to be linked should appear below at 9.00am.

Queen Meg, you are not alone in following the examiner's request, a friend on mine did exactly the same thing. It has to be said on his first attempt at driving (his instructor being a school teacher friend) he reversed over 10 bicycles. He did eventually pass his test but following two stupid accidents decided that driving was not for him nor good for the general populace!
