I think 17a is Yonks . americans = Yanks, import "O" from oxygen, Yonks slang for a long time. I could be wrong though!

13a scourge = s(small) + courage(bottle) minus a for adult.
13a Scourge-------s[small]----courage[bottle] less a[adult]-------17a Yonks
