Add 1578 if you haven't
Subtract the year you were born
You will be left with a 3 digit number

When we get bto 2010 you have to add either 1760 or 1759, and in 2011 add 1761 or 1760, etc.
It works because of this
Choose the number - call it x
so, by stages:
x
2x
2x+5
100x+250
then adding 1759 gives you 100x + 2009.
Subtract the birt year from 2009 and you get your age, and the 100x is 100 times the number you first chose.
