Catron, it would appear that you are slightly obsessed with Lie in king, or even a tad envious perhaps. As an impartial observer, it seems to me that arrogance has not fallen too far from your tree. Get over yourself and concentrate on far more important issues (such as the crossword maybe?)

Kind Regards

MCGrath
Thanks for that, McGrath! Now do you care to answer the question as to why some solvers presume that some questioners are too stupid to correct their own mistakes? Or are you just sounding off for the sake of it?

Jealous of somebody who admits to spending nearly all their Sunday answering questions here? Sorry but that has me in stitches.
Catron, I'm definitely not sounding off (not my style!)

I see no reason to think that being/feeling envious, jealous, call it what you will is a bad thing.

I'm dead envious of Lie in king and your good self and many others on the site (Q's and A's alike) and if I was left to my own devices I would sit and answer questions all day! (but I am not afforded the opportunity to be smug and 'big up' myself by pipping everyone to the post and explaining the art of solving Cryptic crosswords because you are all too fast and clever) And unfortunately or fortunately I have social engagements (places to go-people to see blah blah blah). And probably therein lies the answer --

Now I'm off to buy some milk and probably a copy of Time Out. (or I'll read it in the shop because I am such a Tightwad)

Best wishes

McG
I have to agree with Catron that lie-in-king comes across as terribly smug and condescending.

Anyone who gets up early on a Sunday morning to do that day's Tabloid crosswords so that when he starts posting at 10.30 his answers can appear 'live', has a problem.

If he chooses to spend all day Sunday answering questions then that's his business but when he posts items about what he has for his tea, and the state of health of his friends, then that should be on Chatterbank.

I think Lie in King does a great job on here, and helps as often as he/she can I come on this crossword/quizzes&puzzles section just for fun to see if I can solve answers that others have had problems with---sometimes I can sometimes I can't, but on seeing some of the answers and explanations that others give (including Lie in King) the answers are then clear and I ask myself' How did i not see that'?
Idon't think Lie in King was being in the least bit arrogant the other day.
Please continue to give your help Lie in King.
Ok Annie - then perhaps you will explain what word(s) you would use for giving somebody an answer they have not asked for and presuming that the questioner cannot correct their own mistake? If it is not arrogant, what is it? Do you at least accept that it is not something that should be done?
