Catron, if you truly think that was arrogance on my part, then may I suggest you take a "chill pill"?!
I saw 'Paged' as a possible answer, with nothing to fit 'V_G_D' - not having the puzzle, I made the suggestion that the 'V' might be incorrect - surely it would have been more arrogant to demand that 'Paged' be correct without knowing 'Juniper'?
Don't worry, I'm off to watch Top Gear later, so I'll not be upsetting you for an hour or so...
Not answering the question as usual, Lie-in KIng! Why do you always try and give answers for those questions you think the questioner has got wrong? That is arrogant and you cannot pretend it is not. You may 'good grief' for all you are worth but presuming others are not able to correct their mistakes is, in effect, calling them 'thick' and I am surprised that you cannot see that.
Now you're being ridiculous & offensive - again...
I try to answer any Q that I see - most enjoyable are those I've not had the chance to solve previously & for those, I end my A with a '?'.
Unlike you, I do not presume that I'm right all the time - I certainly never think that the Q'er must be wrong - all it takes is for an A'er with the puzzle to correct me, so why would I deliberately make myself a target for abuse?
I'll "good grief" as often as I wish - it shows admirable restraint on my part when confronted with such arrant nonsense.
Thank you for spoiling what had been a most enjoyable day.
Spoiling your day? And you talk about arrant nonsense!
You still have the cheek to say that you never think that a questioner has an answer wrong - that is clearly nonsense! You and I both know most times when an answer is wrong and it does not become you to deny it - and yet you still consider that the questioner cannot rectify their mistake.
KBar1970 would never admit it, as they have needed help on a question - but you have treated them as though it was impossible for them to correct their mistake. If that is not offensive, I do not know what is.
Well can I jump on the band wagon with a 'Good Grief' 'Goodness Gracious me' 'Golly Gosh' and 'Crikey!! All valid words I believe (Except Crickey does not fit in with the G theme -- but I thought it apt)
I only dipped in for bit of advice on GK 867 and a shufti at what a peaceful sunday had to offer.

catron, you are seriously out of order, lie in-king.is a superstar in here,he is a gentleman who helps people finish their crosswords or puzzles and to me has always behaved in a courteous manner, for you to say he is arrogant goes beyond belief, most people who post on here for answers,do because they want them,we are not all brain boxes and lie in-kings contributions are more than welcome, the only time we hear from you is moaning,so please leave lie in-king alone.wallacia.
Tell me, wallacia, that this thread - http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Quizzes-and-Puz zles/Question775938.html does not show that Lie-in King is arrogant? It assumes that the questioner cannot correct their mistake on 8 down in this crossword - if that is not arrogant, what is it? Lie-in King may be the most prolific answerer but if it is not offensive to you that he treats questioners as too thick to correct their mistakes, it is to me. Ok?
Catron, I don't think I've ever observed a post of your that wasn't grumpy about something. This is not a criticism; I admire your constancy and the level of energy it must take to always be so curmudgeonly. However, in this case I must say I have no idea what you're talking about. If LIK is guilty of arrogance on that post, then everyone else here must plead guilty as well.
dr b - why everyone else? I have been here a very long time and nobody treats questioners as too thick to correct their mistakes more than Lie-in King. If you do the same thing, I ask you why?
Cannot the questioner be allowed to sort their own answers out?
Wallacia - what do you call someone who treats others as too thick to correct their mistakes then? If you think I am sad, then that does not worry me a jot.
I have done exactly what LIK did on the post you have linked to above; in fact the first answer to THIS post does exactly the same thing,. Why have you not gone after Claud.Butler for doing it? It's standard practice. Get off it.
Catron if you want an argy bargy come on chatterbank and have a go there.
Please leave Lie in King in peace
Take a look at these you will feel at home here

"Its standard practice" - that makes it ok then, does it? To presume questioners cannot correct their own mistakes is acceptable because others do the same? Sorry, do not agree - two wrongs do not make a right.
Lie-in King is undoubtedly the worst for this - and so I have queried why he does it - again - without him (or anybody else) being able to explain exactly why, when the questioner has NOT asked for another answer, it is given anyway.
Get off it? Sorry but no - people cannot be treated as if they are too thick to correct their mistakes.
