2. Sir Henry Cole is credited with the first Christmas Cards - 1843.
The Christmas Tree was introduced to Britain by Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, from Germany. In the Illustrated News of 1848 there was shown an etching of the Royal Family gathered around a Christmas tree at Windsor. However, the Christmas tree was being decorated in-and-outdoors in 16th C. Germany and Martin Luther, the Protestant Reformer is said to have decorated trees with candles on their branches. Queen Victoria & Albert married in Feb 1840. IF they set up a Christmas tree that December, then I guess you could say the tree was introduced first into Britain! If you go by the 1848 pic then cards came first!
