Good morning everyone - well I hope you've all got your thinking caps on this morning because I don't have the faintest idea what we're supposed to do with the crossword with which Kate has presented us, so I've automatically put on my dunce's cap !!!
Before going any further - I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, a safe holiday period and all the best for the coming Year. Thank you all for your friendly comments, banter and slightly bizarre suggestions throughout this past year, I've enjoyed every minute of it.
Now - what do we do with these "links" which are -
CRICKET ON THE HEARTH
THE CHIMES
THE BATTLE OF LIFE
A CHRISTMAS CAROL
At the top of the page, Kate tells us that Dickens and Christmas go together like Morecambe and Wise - whether this is to lead or mislead, I have no idea, but she finishes by wishing us a Happy Christmas -
As usual, all are welcome to join in, the show closes at midnight Sunday, results later Monday and word lengths are not a problem, what else is there to say but GOOD LUCK !!! S
well, I think Kate's having a larf so I shall have one of my own!!!!
Oh no, another Cricket on the Hearth
Move with The Chimes
The Battle of Life is here to stay
You're Never Alone with a Christmas Carol
Steff, I think the moose translates from the Scottish into 'mouse'. It's their way of getting more moose to the larder. I still have to work out why it's crying!!!
The preamble to the crossword states : "Your challenge is to link each of the tales with a character to be found in Monday's Herculis ". I hope that this clears up the confusion.
The answer to this could be that these 4 books were actually a series written at Christmas by Dickens. They were all meant to portray the true Christmas spirit - all this is according to the One Show last night!!
It looks even harder than my lot!!
Characters from each book is what Kate is asking for.
Battle of life - MARION JEDDLER
the Chimes - EVE TROTTY
Cricket- EDWARD TACKLETON
Carol - TINY TIM (Crachet)
