Thank you Kakayima
Heedy
Question Author
I prefer hooly but would be interested why you think heedy?
It's heedy to fit in with 2 down
Also it's talAnts not talEnts. Talents is a Shakespearean and Scott form of talons.
Talants is the Spenserian form according to Chambers.
I have to agree with novalis. The alternative spelling of "talants" in Spenser is "talaunts" which makes the "a" more likely than the "e".

"Hooly" does mean careful but is actually common in Scots poetry and the occasional bit of Chaucer. "Heedy" seems to be the choice of Spenser.

Gosh I am learning more about Spenser since starting doing the Generalist than I ever learnt at school or college!!!
