Chilver = female lamb
HURPLE a Scots word that means to limb - does that count? The TV programme QI covered this on an episode once, so if you google it you might find others!
I too was going to say Hurple, to limp....

Depends how you pronounce Orange, whether you could rhyme it with fringe...

Thanks you..............I'll try these out.
I do of course mean LIMP - Sorry!
BertieButton - scots word for limp is hirple.
There are apparently regional differences in the spelling of hurple/hirple depending on how you pronounce it !!
BertieButton, sorry I questioned your answer. It's just that there's no mention of "hurple" in any of my Scots dictionaries, but as you say it could be a regional spelling.Would love to know where they pronounce it "hurple" Up north it's often pronounced "herpling". Any way it doesn't matter in this case as they ask for English words.
There is no word to rhyme with orange or month
When she dressed her dog in purple
The shame of it just made the cur pull
I suspect quinie that you are being a tad pedantic!
I would think that 'English' refers to English language (i.e. including Scots, American words) rather then English as spoken in england.
What rhymes with "lemon" ?
Stephen Sondheim once wrote a poem on this subject:

To find a rhyme for silver
Or any 'unrhymable' rhyme
Requires only, ver
Bosity and Time.

(He wrote it for Time magazine, hence the word in the last line)
burder... should have been:

Requires only will, ver
Bosity and Time.
Hi,Goofy, I'm afraid I never thought of it that way-just thought it meant Queen's English. Apologies again.
