Another Spring
My Entry to our Clubs Poem Contest. How do you think I will do?
We're all waking up from our deep sleep, I've told the tulips and snowdrops to have a peek
The Daffidils are glowing & waving at me, they told the crocus to wake up and see.
And I'm looking down on all of those, waking up from their winter doze
My cloak of leaves will be shining and new, and all my blossom will be a pink hue.
Hey! Mr Greengrass wake up and grow, spring is now here didn't you know?
Tell your daisy's to show their face & let us see petals of white lace.
Miss Iris is showing her bonnet of blue & Miss Violet has a dress that is new.
The soft spring rainquenches our thirst, and the buds on the lilac are ready to burst.
This is my favourite time of the year, the Blackbirds songtoo I can hear.
He's looking for a mate to help build a nest, I shall let him stay as my welcome guest.
Come on Mr Sun make me feel warm, bring a mellow and yellow glow to the dawn.
Make the sky blue and the clouds white, the wonder of all this is a beautiful sight.

As for the poetry could I suggest you rephrase the start of your poem to begin with something like:
As we rouse from our winter slumber
and from their bed the drowsy number
raise their yellow, red and gold
to bring floral glory to our home.
There is more colour and emotion in your own words. Use them.
Poetry is everywhere,
It doesn't have to rhyme.
Poetry doesn't have to scan,
At all, at all, at all.
