The Club is now open.

The Committee reminds all members that the summer fete is fast approaching.

As this is usually accompanied by a break in the weather, members are advised to stock up on rainmates , mackintoshes, welly boots and gamps.

Donations of bric-a-brac, cake and candy etc may be left in the upper lesser drawing room for sorting by the members of the fete sub-committee.
Applications for membership of the fete sub-committee are currently being vetted.

Please give generously. This year's profits will be going to the house...errr.... club rooms restoration fund, a worthy cause as we will all agree. (And that damp patch on the bathroom floor is not going to go away on its own.)

We are fair galloping along now aren't we, maybe I should knit some more zimmer frame covers in case we get another bad freeze this winter, I people the fire bobbies were called to a few incidents of people becoming welded to the frozen handles.
Question Author
oooh nasty.
I think we should hold a knitting evening expressly for knitting zimmer gloves.
Have you seen those souped-up zimmers with wheels and a seat ? That might be quite a tricky pattern to follow.
Oh heck didn't think that through did I? Meant just to cover the handles really.

Do have another tipple and I have restocked the icehouse too.
Phew, puff, pant, evening all..... The feet are clean but I think I still have bits of twig in my hair, so please make allowances.

Ethanron, how kind of you to ask. Lost in the mist of time - but when I first moved to le manoir, I had so much stuff and it was all piled up in my ground floor room, all I could see was - boxtops - and boxtops I have been ever since. I like it!

And now to return the compliment, if I too may be so bold: are you Eth AND Ron, or is it a double act?
Question Author
Your tireless devotion deserves a medal, Mamya. Sadly funds do not run to this, so will you accept a quarter of wine gums instead ?
(For you to keep, not for putting in the punch.)

Eth and Ron..takes you back
Ooooh Ron.....my favourite ice cream flavour is nealopitan...
Boxy I believe it is in fact a shared ID and there is a Ron aussi, either that or Eth has a split personality not uncommon.
Question Author
Does ethandron come from the antipodes ?
SHoudn't he/she/they be asleep ?
I was not aware of an Antipodlean connection, though I know the french food is popular in that household.

Only like the french fries myself.
Question Author
I am partial to an escargot, but only occasionally.

Aren't they called freedom fries now ?
thank you for the clarification boxtops dear, your name had me puzzled as the only thing i could come up with was perhaps a liking for cereal, hence boxtops (i know, a very loose connection).
my own nomenclature (?!?) is in fact eth and ron, me being the eth bit, him being the ron bit rather surprisingly. eth and ron were in fact my dear late departed parents real names, although my mum was never known as ethel, but by her middle name. and although i am FAR too young to remember it, there was apparently a radio show with eth and ron in it, starring i believe june whitfield. not sure where the antipodean connection comes in, although i do like a nice chilled ozzy white.
and my split personality? well, i am using the ointment and it seems to be having some effect, although i am still a little raw in places.
Question Author
Mamya said that there was a Ron aussi.......

June Whitfield, Jimmy Edwards, Take it from here..very funny .Written by Frank Muir and Dennis Norden, I think. have forgotten who played Ron.....
aren't freedom fries a variety of panty liner? with wings?
Question Author
would that not be freedom flies ?

Or is that chips from the takeaway ?

Question Author
Hello slinky...you found 5 boys in your wardrobe ? How long had they been locked in for ?
well'it was five boys but i'm sure they're men now
Well katy if you have, we can share them around.
I remember Five Boys, they had the crying boy at one end of the packet and the smiling boy (with chocolate) at the other end. You'd never get away with it now.

I do remember the Glums... on the radio (or the wireless, as we called it in those days)
Question Author
Dick Bentley...there's a name to conjure with....and if you do, you get
icy deb knelt
