Do you think the EU will still exist in 50 years` time?

Bit late for a question like this me thinks but do you think the EU will exist in 50 years? History has taught us that when countries are banded together either willingly or not so willingly (USSR) sooner or later those counties will want their borders and identity back. So why are we in Europe going the other way when the system of countries merging has been proven not to work? I personally don`t think the EU will exist in 50 or even 40 years.

It should be a criminal offence to describe yourself as 'English', 'British', 'French', 'Belgian' or whatever . We are all simply EUROPEAN. (I refuse to stand for the so-called 'British' national anthem, which calls upon a 'god' I don't believe in to 'save' a monarch whom I refuse to recognise. But I'll always stand for the European anthem,'Ode to Joy').

Surely if you take that argument to its logical conclusion we are all simply 'terrans' or citizens of earth... that would also fit with the genetic evidence of common ancestry...
Not saying I feel that way myself...I see myself as English but if that mindset occurred war would become somewhat unlikely... and resource management might be better
however a world government might be a little complex...
and sub divisions would be needed
Shall we call them countries...

Hitler was indeed ahead of his time. He saw the need for a united Europe. He saw the need for the creation of a master race to rule a slave race (even though his criteria were wrong). He saw the need for the use of genetic engineering to determine how children are born. Those are all things I believe in.
