Why did a woman pick up a baseball bat and break her husbands fingers ?.

He was doing some electrical work around the house and became 'stuck' to some high voltage thing. She had to hit his hand to break him away from it, and in the process broke his fingers...Maybe?

It doesn't say she hit him with the bat, thereby breaking his fingers. Perhaps the act of picking up the bat broke his fingers? Maybe they were trapped between the bat and something and picking up the bat freed him but consequentially broke his fingers?
