MM & KM Links January 2011 [Week 1/2]
10 Answers
Perhaps I need to explain the ambiguous title.
This will be Week 1 for MM Links, but Week 2 for KM Links, since I (crofter) opted for a two-week break over the festive season to recover from excesses in every department. My only exercise of the cranial grey matter was provided by my regular treats of crosswords in the Spectator together with the Enigmatic Variations. Whilst on this subject, I need to congratulate teacher1 and roslyn251254 for their recent successes with the Christmas Spectator Crossword.
An excellent start to the year!

What with roslyn’s birthday being on Christmas Day, these coincidences are awesome. My records show that this is the THIRD reign of Queen Christiana and so she becomes one of the elite MM Linkers to have demonstrated this level of success in MM Linking.
Last year, Christiana moved back to the UK after spending some time living in the Algarve, and I had the pleasure of meeting her in person at last Summer’s AGM and outbidding her for a child’s jigsaw puzzle during one of Pauline’s crazy lotteries. I am positive that we can all look forward to a perfect launch from her, but ~ she is such a complex person ~ will entrants be able to predict her link words?

As expected, we shall return to the usual format, when the channel of communication should open on AB tomorrow at 08.45am and the four words to be linked should be posted at 9.00am. This is when MM Links kicks off in earnest and remember ~ early MM hits gain bonus points!
As usual, I ask that you should also look out for the international version of this same game which is called KM Links and kicks off at a very early hour (which is difficult to predict precisely). Consequently, the timing of your posting is deemed to be irrelevant ~ only the number of hits you are able to register. The regular organiser of KM Links comes all the way from Oz ( Roo-land) and is my good friend, “seekeerz”. She is truly the “Wizard-ess of Oz”.
“Why not chance your arm at both Link Games?” You have nothing to lose. Both games remain open for most of the weekend and all entries are scored and entered on to master scoreboards to trace progress through each monthly contest.
Until I see you tomorrow, may I wish you ~ “Happy Linking in 2011”!

Happy New Year crofter and everyone! Good to be back to the usual routine....
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. We were lucky; the family managed to get here, though their original flight from San Francisco was cancelled. They were able to re-book via Amsterdam two days later, and despite very heavy snow on the morning of their arrival the lovely taxi firm we had booked got us to the airport on time to meet them. It was the boys' first sight of snow, and they were so excited that they ate their breakfast on the first morning dressed in scarves and hats so that they wouldn't waste a moment!
Looking forward to Christiana's links tomorrow morning.

Welcome back crofter, and everyone else, after the Christmas etc break and I wish a very happy New Year to all on this site.
I am not sure if I should look forward to, or panic, about what Queen Christiana will give us at 9.00 a.m. tomorrow!
Strix stayed in his home nest over the Christmas period which was only spoilt by a burst mains pipe in the house on the evening of Boxing Day - not a good time to get hold of a plumber!

So glad your family managed to get to you for Christmas, Tearinghair. I can just imagine the pleasure the boys took in the snow. Our little Portuguese cat, Marley, was not so enamoured of it, and spent the entire Christmas with his nose pressed up against our oil heating stove.
I'm really looking forward to setting the links, and Strix, you can panic now. Why shouldn't you, I am. In fact I'm quite worried - I always thought I was a simple soul. Not sure I can live up to being "a complex person".
