i was thinking, what would happen if cons win with reform as opposition, i think it would be interesting, maybe things could actually get moving for the good of the uk, no more labour migrant blocking reforms, but something along the lines of mass deportations, end of cancel culture and rabid protests, fracking no more net0 nonsense, re-open coal mines, glory could return, plenty of jobs thats for sure, no echr and old treaties re-written.

Ideally vice versa or not everything gets done. It didn't under previous Tory government.

Old_Geezer / It didn't under previous Tory government./ neither did i, i think they got ahead of themselves, but in there defence we had covid and ukraine, rishi has only been pm for 18 months and he is a very educated man after reading up on him, id rather the cons then radical labour, reform would make an interesting opposition.

With a sizeable majority it doesn't really matter who the opposition are. We are living in a 2 party autocracy!

Are you the last man in the country who does not know Labour are going to win the election?

It would be interesting in the same way that it would be interesting if they found frogs jumping around on Mars.

Ie interesting, but not going to happen.

Labour couldn't block any of that, the Tories had an 80-seat majority in 2019, remember? The only thing stopping the government was the government.

// re-open coal mines //

They closed because they were uneconomical. Imported coal from the EU could be bought cheaper than we could dig it out of the ground. The Government wanted to smash the NUM, so they offered no support and the mines all closed. Making us dependent on foreign countries for our energy security. At this very moment we are importing electricity from Denmark, France, Norway, Holland, and Belgium.

We've had flash-in-the-pan parties before. Reform won't make any impact by gaining MP's but they might cost the Tories a lot of votes.
