Quiz Call - how the heck did they get that answer?!!!?

As sad as it sounds, I was curious and stupid enough to stay up until 4am to find out the answer to a question on Channel 5s Quiz Call programme. The bouncy and bubbly presenter gleefully told us the answer was 2459 before moving onto the next game and provided no clue to how that figure was reached. So before I complain to Ofcom or whoever I thought I'd ask you guys in case I'm being very dense and the answer is quite simple.

Here's the question:
15 fine hens all met 5 chicks. Then they all met 11 roosters. One had an Al Capone hat.
Count the chickens.

Under this they had a cartoon of 5 'chickens' one of which was wearing a hat. I mention this in case it is part of the answer.

People were calling in with every possible and bzarre answer but none as bizarre as 2459! Help

You'll go mad trying to work out how THEY work out answers on these quiz shows. Better to just stay away altogether.

Seriously, even if it does get explained by someone, chances are you'll never understand how or why, and I'm not saying you are thick, just that they have their idea or what is right and no matter how silly it seems, they are right.

I dont know the working out - as someone else said on this site they seem to make the answer up as they go along.
As for the hat, Al Capone contains the word CAPON which is a type of chicken.

the idea with this type of question is there are so many different ways of making a calculation, there are endless answers which can all be explained. My other half thinks they just keep saying the answers given are wrong until they've made enough money then just give the prize to the next person (usually when people have got bored with phoning in for that question).
