Power Transformers....

OK if I unplug my lap top but leave the power supply connected, it stays warm so obviously it is still drawing and using power but how much compared to normal operation? Is there much to be saved in unplugging it completely?

As with all Transformers if they are left plugged in and the socket is on then they will be drawing power, however it will be minimal. The problem comes when you have a family of five all with laptops and mobile phones, as you can imagine if they are all left on when not being used then it all starts to add up over the months.

Dunno if it's been on TV elsewhere, but in Scotland they've been running safety adverts stressing that everyone should unplug such devices when not in use to reduce fire risk.
