Cat shooting
37 Answers
I feel really shocked and upset tonight. I've just found out that a cat belonging to an elderly lady on her own who lives in the flats at the bottom of my crescent has been shot three times with air gun pellets and had to be put down as it was paralysed. I used to 'talk' to it regularly and it was totally unconcerned about my dog and just used to sit and watch us pass by. It was found on our crescent trying to crawl home. I live in a very quiet residential area and cant believe some one would do this. The vet said it had been shot from above probably from a window. It never seemed to wander far and it must be some one local who shot it. How can people do things like this?

I can remember, years ago, there was a lot of cats dying from antifreeze poisoning in our area. One of our neighbours down the road knew our cat and came to tell us that she found a pure white cat in her garden. Thankfully it wasn't ours and we were lucky as there were a lot of deaths in the area. I can just remember how upset and angry everyone was. Really terrible. :|
Many years ago I had a much loved cat, she crawled home one day unable to use her back legs. We took her to the vets,he reckoned someone had kicked her in the stomach. Her Diaphram had been shunted up into her chest cavity,
we were faced with horrendous vet bills, we had very little money but it was a no brainer, she was my baby. The operation went well(I cried all day during it)
she recovered and lived fr many years after. I believed the man who lived in the house backing on to our garden had done it, I had witnessed him chasing Shelley (she was a (Tortie) out of his garden. He was a nutter anyway who used to object to us having a conversation in our own lounge with the window open. He used to stand at the end of his garden waving his arms and jumping up and down and shouting.
I couldn't believe the heartbreak that involves hurt to an animal.
I lost Shelley by her just disappearing, I believed (or hoped) that she had just gone away to die on her own. It took me years to really get over her going.Sorry for rambling on a bit.

There were a spate of cat murders somewhere I lived a few years ago and everyone had an old tramp who used to live and wander around pegged as the culprit but couldn't prove it. Turned out it was a professional guy in his early 40's, real paragon of village life type. I was about to make sure he met with a nasty accident when someone beat me to it. lol.
It's about now that 18-25 year olds have had computer games available throughout their lives. Shooting the bad guys, in fact anyone and anything, has no repercussion. Some thickies, or just neglected children are almost certain to have a deep seated feeling that it doesn't really matter what they do, it can all be reset.
This doesn't help the old girl of course, just a window on our 'whatever' society.

That is awful - disgusting. Poor cat - poor lady. Small consolation, but at least she knows that happened to it (vile though it is), as it was found. It's hard when the cat just vanishes (although in some ways, it would be better not to know about scum like this). I hope it gets big press in the local newspaper, before another pet suffers a similar fate.
