Byt yes, sooner or later, probably sooner, we should find a planet we can live on. Only problem then is getting there before it becomes inhospitable. (Or occupied.)

That planet is 600 ly away so if there are creatures on it that have advanced to the required technological level then a signal sent from Earth now would take 600 years to reach them, followed by a further 600 years to get a reply. If they have already picked up radio signals generated by humans then we only have another 500 years to wait to receive a reply, if that is what they choose to do.

This would make a good project for the techies of AB...How to communicate with some form of primordial slime ( the other extreme doesn't bear thinking about). Peferably using some form of faster than light energy so that we get a reply whilst human civilisation still exists. My first suggestion is a visit to R&S where there are people who have paranormal abilities(yes really).
