We do have to worry about it JJ because it's the one being picked. But ta anyway.
Surely no roulette sheel has 39 slots?

It's 1 to 36, plus either one or two zeros.
As nescio has already stated the odds off picking a number and it landing on it three times in a row are 54871 to 1 against, long odds but better than the odds of winning the lottery.

That's why I put 38 in my original post. Sigh.
If you toss a coin the odds are 50% each time to get a head. This is because the coin does not have a memory what went before.

So why should it be any different with a roulette wheel. They are 3 separate events and the roulette wheel does not have a memory. Therefore 1 in 38 three times.
> I meant picking one number and the ball hitting that numbered slot 3 times in a row.

OK, but that's a different question. The question as written says nothing about picking a number in advance.

In that case the answer is, as others have said, 1 in 54872.
it is one in (38) cubed - around 50 000

unless you see a six say and think oh I wonder what the chance of another two sixes are, in which case it is one in 38-squared

and if there are 40 chambers on the wheel (oo and 000 being added ) then it is forty cubed as above
as they would be deemed seperate bets the odds would be about 7 to one each time the wheel spins with bookie as thats the odds on the lotterys of 50 numbers.
