White spot on eye

I know I should see a doctor or optician about this and I am going to go have my eyes examined but just thought I'd ask on here first.

We had pictures taken at the weekend and have seen some of them on Facebook. I'm only in one of them but there is a white dot on my right eye when the other eye is red.

Should I be alarmed about this or can there be other logical explanations.
Other people took pics of us so I'm waiting to see if the same thing happens on those, but it just had me worried after reading that these white spots that show up in photos are brain tumours or cancers?

Can it be something and nothing? I am having my eyes tested at the weekend so if there is anything it should be spotted with that.

Thanks

I don't know of ANY malignant disease that presents with a white spot on the eye on a photograph.

Why does it show on a photograph and not in reality?.......others will explain.
Ive actually heard of it sqad where an eye shows white in a photograph and it has turned out to be sinister...I definately have read about this more than once...

However not always im sure its very unlikely!! Digi cams thesedays photograph the tiniest wee bit of dust etc...so it can be anything!! No harm in getting checked at the weekend though xxxxx
tinker....I stand corrected, you are correct.....a retinoblastoma MAY present with the above signs. Rarely but it may happen.

Well done my love.
Id like to pretend that i read this in uni.....

I must admit...its my addiction to "real life magazines" ......haha! Although it was the health section!

Bobby..its really rare, easier said than done...but its probs a camera trick!! Rather than something bad...do let us know xxx
I was recently diagnosed with and treated for a malignant tumour in my left eye. Nothing was visible from the outside except with opthalmic instruments. It was visible from the inside though. One thing that could cause the appearance of a white spot in your pupil would be a cataract ie. a cloudiness of the lens, but you would notice a haziness in the vision from that eye long before it was noticeable from the outside. I have a cataract as a result of the treatment for my tumour which is barely visible to the naked eye yet has rendered the affected eye virtually blind.
Has this white spot been visible in other photos? if not it could simply be a reflection of a bright light off the cornea.
Probable internal reflections of the lens or reflection off the optic nerve head. Rarely is this 'leukocoria' due to anything other than this. As said above, a cataract would have to be an almost opaque lens to give a white reflex. Rarely is it anything to be concerned about.
