I have been reading about microwave treatment of thread veins and am wondering if the thermo-coagulation renders the veins useless? If so is there any consequence if there is no blood supply to the affected area?

Veins and particularly thread veins do not supply blood to an area but drain blood from that area, so thermocoaguation has no deleterious effect on that particular region of skin.

Thread veins called telangectasia or spider veins have many causes.
1) they may have no obvious cause but may even be hereditary.
2) due to hormonal changes...e.g pregnancy
3) but most commonly associated with varicose veins.

The two recognised treatments are a) thermo coagulation b)laser therapy.

Creams are useless.

Thank you Sqad.

I might just go ahead then as I have mild thread veins due to long term topical steroid use but was unsure about the long term consequences.
My understanding is that vein treatment involves either the removal or sealing up of a vein. I assume there are plenty of others in the vicinity that will continue to supply the necessary to the local area when the treated one no longer exists.
