Sparrows Behaviour

Earlier this year (Spring time) we were surprised to find sparrows occupying the bird box fixed to the wall of our house.Eventually after all the nesting, feeding etc, and the young birds had flown, the male bird still visits the nest and sits on the roof of the box chirping away for most of the day. We cannot understand this . Has anybody experienced similar behaviour and any ideas

Yeah, I think he's trying and hoping for the chance of a 2nd brood. I've seen this happen before.
