can anyone tell me in miles, how far from ground level it is to the outer atmosphere ie:when it starts turning to blacknessin the sky?

... although this cannot be deemed the outer atmosphere since the exosphere begins at about 500-1,000km (~300-600 miles) and extends to around 10,000km (~6000 miles).
