I was watching the film comedy "Airplane" last night and I was wondering, if something did happen to both pilots would the air control be able to talk someone with no experience in flying into landing the plane?

So there's really no worry to fly if you have a fear of the pilots being taken ill?

If I were an airline I'd train all the air stewards in self defence in case of terrorist attacks as well as train them all to fly a plane.

Why don't any of the airlines do this? If anything I'd expect Richard Branson to have taken this idea on unless no one has thought of it?

Would it be a good idea to email airlines with this idea as it would ensure our safety and get more people to fly which would mean more money for the airlines?

Weird idea but if I told an airline this idea and they did it would I receive any money for giving them this idea?

Also your links showed small planes and I meant something like a 747
If I were trained to fly a plane I wouldn't be employed as cabin crew for a cabin crew's wage

there's no harm in contacting them to find out - 'and don't call me shirley'

/// as well as train them all to fly a plane. ///

Then they would be Pilots and want a pay rise!
Clanad is your man - he flies planes

What is the difference in wages and "Shirley" it wouldn't matter about the increase in wages when more passengers were flying.
It would have been nice if you had said, at the start, that you were referring to something like a 747. We could have then found links that were more appropriate.
I want you to know that there is absolutely no evidence that Air hostesses crash aeroplanes when they fly them

[ but that doesnt mean we should give them all pilots' licences - the speaker went on ]
It would be impossible for a passenger to land a plane if both pilots were unconscious. Nobody could get in the cockpit.
Bonjo, it costs in excess of £90k for a commercial pilot to get his licence. Very stringent academic and psychological tests have to be passed before a person is accepted, and then training takes at least 12 months.

Why would more people fly if cabin crew could fly planes?
Even given it's been done, I wouldn't rate the chances of getting down ok, very high.
I'm pretty sure it's computers that can fly and land wide bodies like 747s, I'd rather rely on that than flight crew. I have read recently that planes can be flown from the ground but airlines don't want to include that technology.
looks like i picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.....
"I want you to know that there is absolutely no evidence that Air hostesses crash aeroplanes when they fly them"

Aye, that's because they don't have to reverse park. :-P
Ouch
