Well you obviously lack the mental and emotional capacity to consider my arguments so I can only hope that in future years you grow up sufficiently to free yourself from the shackles enforced on you. I suppose we all get there our own way :)

Hey all. I've recently started talking to God and it's really enlightening. He's bonkers, which explains a lot. Why don't you try asking him about some of the questions raised in this Q?

first of all, i'm not in shackles, God will never leave me i will never leave him. i will never change my ways
EL D, remember that God loves you.

God came into mylife on a dark cold scary night. christ followed with his wisdom and showed me the way.

for me God is the answer to my soul without him i fall away into darkness. with him i can overcome anything. my answer to why im a christian is because god saved me .

i think to beleive you have to die to the world of lies and deceit and realise that it isnt God who causes suffering its man in his blind pursuit of what he beleives is important and true very rarly seeing the suffering around him even on his own door step.

before i became a christian my usual first thought in the morning was usually small things like breakfast or homework uncomplete soon after was the casting the mind to getting high that night and after that just a trying to enjoy the night only to repeat it the next morning. now as a christian the first thought was God and last too.

if you only want to live to enjoy life then youll find away if you want to live then for me my only wish inlife is to live for christ and die for him. everything that leads to that is life and although its getting hard i know that it means im close.

i dont need to jump out of a plane or buy the latest gadget to find contentment for me God is my eternal contentment and only by leaving him can i loose peace love and joy. not somthing that you can buy in box.

at that moment when you realise that your enemy is death and the one leading you there is the one who hates, will you seroiusly consider a God who saves and loves.

if you would like to know the bible but cant be botheres to read it then know this it can be summed up in a sentences.

love the lord your god with all your mind, strength and soul and love your neightbour as yourself

i can only say to any response imagine the world was a place where if you fell and ask for a hand up a whole choir sang. well it is you just dont know it

omo

Yawn - well if anyone actually has any rational arguments as opposed to childlike emotional pleas post again. I say again maybe when you have the mental strength to stand up alone as a member of the human race you will post something of merit. Personally I believe you 3 are all borderline mental illness . . .

Was the Asian tsunami man's fault then? Bad, selfish people.

But I have to agree when you talk about people and their blind pursuit of what they believe is important. Bloody Christians, eh?

why don't you believe in God? What did he ever do to make you hate him so much? Who do you think created you if God didn't? I don't know of any one else but how can you nat love the person who created you? God will always love you whether or not you love him. He doesn't need you, he wants you.

haha see my previous posts and read them s l o w l y.
There is no reason to suppose the existence of any non-human being as described in any religious belief systems. If I told you that god was in actual fact an omnipotent piece of cake, but that I had never heard, seen, spoken to, touched or likewise interacted with said being, why should anyone believe me. Merely because people like you are too flimsy upstairs to deal with life on your own combined with the fact that there are a lot of you is no basis for a belief. You believe because you are scared.
isnt everyone a little scared of something
Sure but it's how you deal with it - simply placing your trust in a catch-all 'goodness' is a cop out of facing your responsibilities. i.e. Praying does not solve anything - if you want something to happen YOU do something. If you feel alone YOU solve it. If you are scared YOU face it.

Besides which, would your god want you love him out of fear? It's supposed to be a choice, not a base reaction.
I just want to say...

When we are children, we like to be in gangs, we like to belong to groups, the scouts, the cubs, the girl guides, whatever. Religions serve exactly the same purpose for grown-ups, it's all about a sense of belonging, being with people who are like you - it gives you confidence and reassurance.

The "truths" which religions offer are of course a load of baloney, the reason being: we are ignorant, we don't know what the truth is, we are tiny little animals with tiny brains scurrying around on a rock in space and we know *@!* all about the universe and our place in it.

If this makes you feel uncomfortable, so it should. But it should also make you feel a sense of urgency. This really is the only life you will ever have - there is no afterlife (as far as we know) and so we should really try to treat this life as being important, not just a practice run for an eternity in heaven.

I don't believe that, I know that there is an after life. Look around you. Who made all of that stuff outside. It,s not by chance that we were created, and we did not evolve from monkeys. We were created by God to serve him. if we never do that, then we really have no purpose in life. Sure, you may have great jobs, spouses, children, hey, you may be the richest person in the world. None of that means anything. eventually that will all pass away. Isaiah 40:8 says the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever. even if you can't find any proof, why not just believe. Better safe than sorry. someday, you might find out that everything really was true and you might regret not having made the decision to follow Christ. So, why not just be prepared in case it is true.

Ya'll are welcome to believe whatever you want. I love Jesus and because I know him. Life is worth living. Sure i still have struggles, but with God's help, I can face anything the devil throws at me. God has  a plan for my life. I don't know about you, but when I heard that I thought  wow that's cool. I wonder what he wants me to do

GOD'S AWESOME!!!!!!!

Ok, it's nice to feel sure about something, to have a belief to give you strength, to share this with others, to banish doubts...

But 2 points:

The world is really messed up at the moment, so please try to behave responsibly so that we don't screw up for future generations... I believe this is the only life we have and the only world we will ever inhabit, so I really feel I just have one chance to get things right. For me, believing this makes the time I have very important, I want to do things right, there is no second chance... If I believed in an afterlife then this world and this life wouldn't seem so precious to me. George Bush comes to mind - he professes to be a Christian and he doesn't seem to care much about the environment - he says that the American economy mustn't suffer (money is more important than the environment) - it gives me the impression that he just trusts in God and cannot possibly believe that God would let the world suffer some huge environmental disaster. I think he's taking a big risk and gambling with the lives of future generations. Where does he get his certainty from? Not from 99% of the world's most eminent scientists who say that humans are causing global warming. Maybe from his faith...

Second point: I can't remember what the second point was : )
I like the way you have awarded your own answers three stars. Unless they're lying for some peculiar answer, anyone who said they weren't Christians has answered your question equally well. By the way. I've decided to invite Jesus into my life. He's welcome to turn up anytime after about 7.00pm as long as he brings a bottle. Can I have three stars too?
How long has the world been praying for world peace?

Has it happend?
can I just add that I am a christian too - not read to the end of this thread so I don't know where it is going so this may be very off topic by now.

I don't care what you think of other people, but please don't speak publically about George W. Bush. I think he's doing a great job and i fully support him. you can say whatever you want but i'm just asking not to bring that up here again.

I didn't  rate my own response. That was my friend emily and I'm not that full of myself to do something like that.
