For those of you who need to be so cynical about the existence of a god, and those who need to feel such a pathetically blind faith, I see errors in both.
I think the fundamental error lies in a lack of balance in proselytizing and missionary activity. When was the last time an atheist knocked on your door to see if you were a practising Christian, and try to convert you? When I was practising, in retrospect, I would have loved that. It would be so much fun too.
I had an amazing religious experience when two jehovahs turned up at my door recently. We had an hour long chat and I actually think I changed their minds about some things. Couldn't believe it! rofl.
I would like to apologize if my earlier snickers post offended any fans. Let's just agree to disagree.
FCAWarrior, Thank you for agreeing with my answer. God is indeed truly awesome. The love God has for each of us is too great for us to possibly imagine. God loves us with infinite love. Jesus died a terrible death and rose again to save us. He had a crown of thorns put over his head, he was nailed to a cross and was pierced in the side. He would have gone through that death even if it was only one soul he had to save by it. Jesus has given us the chance of Everlasting life through his death and ressurection. We can all be saved if we accept God into our life.
Nuclear fission (a la power station) is the production of energy from matter.
Particles come into being in the universe all around us all the time, from nothing.
Even if stuff here had to come from other stuff here, and energy here from energy here (and neither is true), why should this apply to the whole universe? Why can't that just come out of nothing? You assume that the universe at the beginning obeys all the apparent laws that we witness in it now. Why do you assume this?
In the end everything to do with God ultimately comes down to a mystery, such as why Jesus had to die to save us. We just have to accept these mysteries going on what is said in scripture. We will only be able to understand these mysteries in the next world.
Look up on the scientifically proven law of the conservation of mass-energy.
I'd love to set up my own religion, it would be dead easy. Just make up some stuff, and if there are any very obvious holes in it, just tell people that 'that bit's a 'mystery' and all will be revealed when you die'. Unfortunately no dead people were available for comment to corroborate this.
The salvation of people's souls by the sacrificial death of Christ on the Cross is the main reason why I don't accept anything about Christianity. It doesn't even mean anything. Save what? My soul? Ask most christians, they wouldn't even be able to clearly define this for you. And yet they are perfectly willing to radically change their entire belief about the world and themselves based around this, something that is at best, a very fuzzy idea for them. It would be funny, only it gets into all of our lives. Yukky.
