Carrots...

Bought a 'bargain basement' size bag of carrots (cheaper than the odd one or two!) but I was wondering, is it possible to freeze the rest.. and if so do I need to peel and par boil (not adverse to a peeling.. give me a peeler and I'm your gal!!!)... or shall I just give the rest to the guinepigs next door..?!

Why not a bit of both?
Tesco do a frozen casserole mix which includes carrots so you should be ok freezing them.
Definitely freezable. Chop,blanch,freeze. We get dozens of kilos donated where I work at harvest time...got the orange hands to prove it..:O lol.
As Pasta says...blanch for a few minutes and then freeze.

You could make carrot soup...
Didn't use Nigella's gloves than Pasta ;-)

Noooo....gloves get in the way. Was she using them to protect her hands from chilies? I've not read the article yet.
She was using them with cooked meat.
I find they are either too small,or too large with gaps in the tips. Not good for gripping and they usually let wet in,so not really protective. Will there be a run for them in the shops now...? ;-)
Yeah, what you probably need is a pot of molten latex that you can dip you hands in, remove them, and let the glove form naturally, made to measure.

I do like gloves in the kitchen but only for a few things.

Tesco, bloody Tesco, sell their whole fish ungutted when you shop on line. I have a very weak stomach so have to gut them with my eyes closed :-) Or just wait for OH to come home and do it. I also hate handling chicken.
Eek! Chicken doesn't bother me...but liver? Yuck.
Please make lots of carrot soup and invite me round.
Ungutted fish? Yuk! Can they not employ some proper fishmongers?
I know. When I buy fish in store they are gutted. The ones I get delivered aren't.

I must admit though that I'd rather close my eyes and gut them than buy fillets. I just love whole fish.
What's the problem with gutting fish? Much easier and quicker than boning chicken!
I have a weak stomach. I don't want to pull out guts...
