I think the measures adopted to combat Covid have been way way over the top, and even more so now given the tiny risk, but why on earth would these people think it's a hoax? What end do they think will be achieved by pretty much every country in the world being a part of the hoax?

I assume these are the same clowns who think the moon landing was faked and the Twin Towers was the work of the CIA.

Thanks, mamya. I'm convinced it has all gone far too far -but how to retrieve a sense of normality. I'm not dead (yet) (((now there's a provocative wording, fingers crossed and bye, bye all if necessary))) but I do not wear a mask (do gel my hands and try not to be too close to people and have carried on more or less as normal. It would be more normal if everyone would do the same. I'm still not allowed to sing in our tiny choir! This stupid, high-handed, regulation-fest has caused massive damage to the fabric of our society.

My sister thinks the wearing of masks is an exercise in power control. Despite sharing a mother who died slowly and badly from this virus she still thinks it's a hoax. She's always been a bit odd though.
We are still dealing with the unknown. The more we do to protect ourselves and others at this stage the better.
Not wearing a mask to help protect others is incredibly selfish.

gness - I had a rather bad asthma attack today, as it happens. It put me in bed when it was all over and my chest still hurts. I have tried wearing a mask and I struggled after a couple of minutes. I stay well away from people - as I said - and observe the 2 - yard rule. Masks are unnecessary if you do this.

1. There is no evidence that wearing a mask impedes breathing (other than on an entirely psychological level) for anyone other than the very few people who have chronic lung disease - and they're not going to be out an about anyway.

2. There is a mountain of evidence that mask wearing prevents the spread of droplets from the mouth/nose These droplets are the primary vectors of spread of Covid-19. It's a minor sacrifice to wear a mask in close contact situations and thereby protect others from the possibility that you are unknowingly carrying the virus and infecting them. - it's the essence of selfishness to not wear a mask yourself whilst benefiting from the wearing of masks by most others.

3. It's not an exercise in 'mind control' or a 'regulation fest' - it's simple medical sense.

How do asthmatic doctors/dentists work when they have to wear a mask all day - I don't see them refusing - and if a medic or dentist treated you whilst not wearing a mask how would you feel?

Well, sorry S-D, but I'm the one behind the mask - and I can't manage. Forget the stats. this is how it actually pans out. As I say, I stay well away from other people, I haven't had Covid and there isn't any around here. I'm the one at risk if someone else breathes on me.

^^ To answer question 2 - I wouldn't worry. I've told the nurse who does John's leg to take her mask off -she's very pleased to do so.

If you admit that it's a psychological/anxiety problem then you have my full sympathy - and as long as you stay away from other people and busy situations then that's fine - if you insist on the 'there's no air' defence then I'm unimpressed.

I'm not sure all those Germans are saying it's a hoax, just that the response to it has taken away their rights.

Even with the London demo, there's quite a difference between "No to mandatory vaccines" and "This is a political agenda to commit mass genocide".
