Will Charles Be A Popular King?
50 Answers
Harold Wilson said 'A week is a short time in politics', but with a new Prime Minister and a new monarch it's transpired that this past week has been a short time in the life of this nation.
I've no doubt that Charles will be a king dedicated to duty, but I have my doubts that he'll be a popular monarch. I think he's in for a rough ride and foresee big changes ahead. I feel quite sorry for him really. Any thoughts?

Yup - as you historians might say
Mary I and her minister Cardinal Pole, ( also archbishop of C) died on the same night
and so ELizabeth ( the first that is! for Abers who cant count) had a free choice of ArchBish - - - BUT cdnt find ONE bishop who wd crown her according to Edw VI ( protestant rite) and HAD to be crowned according to the old Latin rite
Charlie boy wants to change the rite according to which he is crowned BUT - - the one used now was rewritten by the boy-king ( Edw VI that is! 1548) and is based on the one used for Edw the confessor - 1042

He has a chance... His main interests the Environment, and giving young people chances in life, and his interest in all faiths are very much part of the modern climate, if he continues, maybe in a less obvious way to support these causes he will at least be seen as true to his ideals. I have always seen him as well meaning and Camilla seems to give him a gentler confidence he seems more relaxed.. He must also be acutely aware he will be viewed as a short term stop gap until William accedes so maybe what the Duke of Cornwall and Cambridge does in the next few years will be equally important
Charles does not share the same interests and concerns as his mother did. He is a conservationist and has shown himself to be very interested in Burnley's 'Weaver's Triangle' having visited it no less than 3 times in recent years.
Being a Burnley 'fan', he will be very, very unpopular in Blackburn - other local rivals are available:-)
