Trying to stop myself doing a bad thing.

 

A woman in my Nextdoor group is advertising 'charcuterie boards, order now for Christmas'.

I thought that made a change from the Christmas Eve boxes, door wreaths, stockings, elves, lollipop trees and was intrigued.

Clicked on the post and what did I see? Plates of biscuits, apparently home made. £20. What a disappointment, what a misuse of a French word.  I have a very strong urge to tell her.

Are the biscuits on a wooden board?  Maybe it's the board she's selling with the biscuits thrown.

Cheeky!   Perhaps she doesn't know what the word means and just thinks it sounds posh.  I bet her customers will be disappointed when they see what they're getting.

I was expecting to see cooked meats and lovely cheeses. (Cheese?)

Ah!  I see what you mean.  I was expecting the food, not particularly on a board.

Christmas hampers don't always come in a nice whicker hamper, and I'd be very surprised to receive an empty hamper with a Christmas bow on it.

Interesting that we read the same words but had very different expectations

Now there's a wee earner.  I can buy wooden boards from B&M for £3.99.  Thrown on some biscuits and wrap in clingfilm with a wee bow. Sell for £20??

She certainly didn't ask the French word for biscuits

As I understand it, a basic made up charcuterie board has meats, cheeses, crackers...and a more elaborate effort  can also have nuts and chutney...maybe even fruit. 

Maybe she's just selling the board and her photo with biscuits "was for illustrative purposes only"...we know what those are like 😉. I'd contact her and ask...and point out if required that biscuits are so not charcuterie. I guess I'm not a good person...😃🤣

There was no board in the photos, she mentioned 'home baked' a few times and usually sells amazing birthday cakes and cup cakes.
