So Sue Gray has been moved sideways, to what seemingly seems like a made up job on probably the same salary if not more.
I bet the position ill be withdrawn as soon as Ms Grey decides to retire.
What on eath does this new role entail?

There is something called "The Council of Regions and Nations".
"The Council, which was created over the summer by Mr. Starmer, will involve the Prime Minister, the First Ministers of the three devolved administrations, and the mayors of England’s combined authorities. These figures will work together to solve issues at a regionalised level."
So it seems that issues which have been devolved will be solved by a Council that the Prime Minister has set up. Not much point in devolving them, really.
I think it is very likely that we will all become unhappily familiar with this new council and others like it... starmer does not particularly like democracy as anyone who has studied his treatment of the labour party can testify. his goal since becoming leader has been to freeze out the will of the membership at every opportunity.
he intends to do exactly the same with the uk parliament (and indeed the regional assemblies)... he will farm off more and more duties to institutions like this one and if allowed to will ensure that he is in power even when he is not the prime minister.
