Can you only get an abcess through an infected tooth root, or can they occur through any infected tissue? Trying to find out if I could have had one from my ear (as my teeth are perfectly healthy). Thanks
Basically, an abcess IS infected tissue, so anywhere you got tissue, you can get an abscess - apart from teeth, ears and buttocks are common sites for abcesses
I don't know about your ear, but you can get infection from the sinus because the roots of some of the top teeth are very close to the front sinus cavity.
it's all connected - the ears and the sinuses and the areas around some teeth. so theoretically if you had a bacterial ear infection you could perhaps get a tooth abscess.
