Changing Light Bulbs.

They're not very high, but high enough to make me think I wouldn't want to fall while reaching up to them.

Any thoughts?

I doubt it would be easy with a bayonet fitting hanging from the ceiling, as the socket would need to be gripped as the bulb is pushed and twisted. Even a screw bulb would be difficult, unless the lamp fitting is fixed so that it can't turn when you screw the bulb in.

I'll be interested to see if anyone here can suggest something useful.

Unless you're comfy using stepladders, don't go using a chair instead.

Otherwise, follow davebro's suggestion, get a tall person to do it.

If you are nervous enough to ask here, ask a younger/taller neighbour to help. Or maybe the local authority, or nearby Age Group perhaps ?

 

Meanwhile, invest in more table/floor lamps ?

Get a sturdy stepladder with sufficient height so you don't have to reach up at all.

If you're going to buy a ladder go for one like this:

Not necssarily that height or make but the high handle gives you something to lean on for a sense of security.
