Just moving an object won't give it a magnetic field. If the object was ferrous and an electric current was passed through it, then a magnetic field would be generated.
a moving charged object produces a magnetic field. if it's stationary then it just produces an electric field.

gets a bit more confusing when you think from a more relativistic standpoint. if you're stationary and you have a stationary charged particle, it'll only have an electric field. but if you move, then relative to you the charge is moving, so it appears to have a magnetic field too.
