I want it to double as an LCD monitor for my computer, so my question is, what extra equipment do I need to purchase and how would I go about doing this? It is a 1440x900 resolution television with 700:1 contrast ration (I don't know if this second part is relevant.) I've had the computer since the end of 2002/beginning of 2003, the graphics controller is one of the Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV series (although I can't seem to get device manager to tell me which one specifically). I will be purchasing a new computer (finally) later this year, so if the LCD TV won't work with my current hardware, I'd like to now what specs I should look for in a computer if I want it to work, or if it's not even worth the trouble and I should just spring for a new LCD monitor.
To check whether your video adaptor can drive it, go to the screen settings, click on advanced, select the adaptor tab, and click List All modes.
But whatever they claim, this is not an HD ready TV - the horizontal resolution of 1440 is less than the HD spec of 1920, and the vertical resolution matches none of those (720, 1080p or 1080i) required for HDTV.
