hp lcd monitor resolution

hi, i've just got a HP w1907s lcd monitor and cannot change the resolution to the panels required 1440x900.
i can only get up to 1024x768.
the computers an e machines with on board graphics running windows xp home.
the monitors drivers dont seem to have made a differance.
help please.

Hi 'henpecked2'.....the graphics resolution you can get is a function of your 'graphics card/on-board circuits'.....I would not be able to get 1440x900 with my Radeon 200.
1440x900 sounds a ' non-standard 'resolution.

z the res is for a 19 widescreen

thanks for replys both of you.
i got a graphics card for it thursday and that supports 19in widescreen.thing is it needed to be a pci card but found one for �31 at ccl online.
the monitor is a gem.
