hi people, does any one know how to stop my gerbils sand from making dust all over the room!! and also does anyone know how i can get them a bit more room to run in??

I kept mine in a glass tank with a wire 'lid' to stop them jumping out and I used a plastic ball thing to let them run about the house as they wished.

hi when i had my gerbils i kept them in a glass tank with wire mesh lid was about 3ft, don't waste your money on the gerbilarium they still make mess also the top seemed to easy to come off. also the rotastack is not advised as they chew there way out, hope this helps

Rather than using sand, it is possible to obtain (and recommended), that medicated fine wood shavings are used in gerbil houses, which are obtainable in sealed plastic bags from all good pet stores. As the previous posters have mentioned, a fairly large glass tank is the best option.

Forgot to say, my gerbils always had the cardboard tubes from the inside of toilet rolls to play with, for running through, and hiding in. This kept them amused for hours.

my gerbils are content in an old aquarium tank with a sprinkling of sawdust in. they recycle all the cardboard in my house by playing in it and chewing it up, gradually filling the tank through the week. sawdust does get everywhere tho!

Used to keep mine in an aquarium half filled with a mixture of damp potting compost & chopped straw. Fascinating to watch them tunnelling.
