i hope i'm in the right catagory for this question!
i would like to know what the physical explanation of a ghost is. i've been watching most haunted on living tv and i'm keen to know how we can see these ghosts and how they can touch and move objects. if they can 'walk through walls', then that would make them non-corporeal but if they can touch things, then wouldn't that make them corporeal?? i'm confused!

Items moving are supposedly down to poltergeist which are down to energy from people in emotional circumstances - supposedly. It is all really a lot of nonsense as far as I can see and a lot of the old proofs have been debunked - the recent programme with the guy who pretended to point a real gun at his head showed this very well.
lalala i kinda have to agree with squirrel... theyr not real.
when i was growing up and was lickle i REALLY believed in ghosts and couldnt agree more with anything anybody said, but now im 14 * yes omg how grown up am i? * i realise what a huge scam most haunted is. you all have to admit, ghosts etc can make bloody good tv/films!!!
Kinderlada, In one instance I saw the ghost of my grandmother and I was too young to know what a ghost was at the time.
You say you don''t believe in ghosts, but believe in god.
Well, there is no scientific evidence to prove there is such a thing as god. I for one do not believe in god. If he did create the earth and all the other stuff, it was way before pen and paper were invented.. the bible has been made up over the years and things in it are not very well described and people can make up whatever they want that will loosely fit the description of the written word.
There's more proof of ghosts than there is of God, even if the evidence can be disproved by a non-believer, it's still more evidence than anyone can put forward proving God's existence.
I don't not believe in God, I have my own beliefs and I know something is there, if not perhaps the God everybody normally thinks of. I do believe in the afterlife without a doubt, and although everyone is entitled to their own opinion I think it's polite to at least listen to other people's views before slating them and saying quite blankly that "ghosts don't exist". How do you know? How can you prove thqat they don't exist anymore than others can prove that they do exist?
As a side point, I think Most Haunted is the biggest load of cr*p I've ever seen, I watched it for the first (and last!) time last week. Derek Akorah should be ashamed, he acting abilities are cringeworthy!
I think you're right kinderlada, everybody should believe in something. I'm saying the same as you, you cannot prove either - only more people believe to have experienced the presence of spirits then people who have experienced the presence of God.
I'm not afraid of spirits, I believe that every living thin that dies its' soul moves on to a better place. Those that feel they cannot leave this life and are not ready to be on the other side stay, and that is what we know as 'ghosts'. Spirits also stay around if they have loved ones that they would need to look over, if they died suddenly and cannot accept it.
This is what I believe anyway, I also know that I have experienced things that cannot be explained. It makes me happy to think that when we die it is not 'the end' but merely the beginning and reuniting you with people you may have lost in your life on Earth. Maybe our beliefs aren't that different.
Kinderlada asked:-
Do you belive that everybody after death become a ghost and what happens with animals they have soul too? I think that some people come back as ghosts, those that died (or were killed) before their time. As far as souls are concerned, I would think that souls can return in another person (or animal), that is why we get people who believe they have been reincarnated, and people who have "deja vu" experiences.
Do you afraid of ghosts? It depends.. some ghosts are kind people (family or friends) who didn't have the chance to say goodbye, or angels that watch over us. If someone didn't scare you when they were alive, they should not scare you when they are dead. Some ghosts can scare the crap out of you.
My 2 dogs have lay on the garden/lawn on top of my last dogs grave.. I was VERY suprised that some of their behaviour changed.. things they do that my old dog did. Has he reached them from beyond the grave or is it pure coincidence? It is unexplained.. Another thing is, dogs leave their mother after a few weeks, and they learn to do things that humans cannot teach them.. it is instinct .. another thing that is hard to explain.
My other grandmother said to me when I visited her in hospital and told her I would visit again "no, you won't".She died a few hours later.. How did she know she was going to die? I had a dog that was dying.. I had to go to an appointment and leave him for a while, he waited until I returned before passing away. Regarding Most Haunted, it is a documentary (reality tv) type of programme, so they are NOT actors. Derek is a medium (a very good one), the others are normal people, cameramen, etc. Do not confuse "real people" with "actors" like in the x-files, etc.
Look everyone! Ghost are real and that's a fact... Casper is proof of that, I have seen it on the telly.....
Here is a question.. if this is true then you are who you are when you pass over into the afterlife.
We are all a collection of experiences and memories, this is what defines you as a person.
What if you had an accident and got hideously brain damaged, you would get to pass over as you were before the accident or after?... or an infinitely wise version?
My point is that you are who you are and any changes however slight would mean something other than you, thus disproving ghosts and the afterlife completely!?
Who agrees?
I agree.
COME ON! this question is in the science section, where are all the people with half a brain? maybe its because people like trilobyte saw this subject and it wasn't even worth their time or effort to disprove you. Well its worth mine. Ghosts are
figments of peoples imaginations, a comforting explanation for the supposedly "unexplained", a way for intelligent people to con less intelligent people out of their money (mediums who do not actually believe in what they are doing), comfort people into beliving something after death (which there may be, but certainly not as a "ghost") and a great subject for movies.
some person said that they saw a ghost of their grandmother before they were old enough to know what a ghost was. You know what happened there? you were really young and didnt know much about the world. You were however, old enough to realise that your grandmother had gone. You didnt like this. So you "saw" your grandmother through wishful thinking, ran to tell your parents what happened. Then they go "it must have been a ghost" and now you believe in this total cr*p. Someone else said their grandmother told them "no you wont see me again" when she was in HOSPITAL. a place where many people die. hundreds of grandmothers have said that to people, but you are the only one that remembers it because it actually happened. It's just like how people remember the sad things in their lives because they are less frequent than the happy things. I hope some people come around to my view of thinking about ghosts.
like my slightly annoying friend who believes that ghosts exist because "he saw them on most haunted" he's an idiot, but i put up with him. dont be like the idiot kids! disbelieve in ghosts
All psychological science begins with real-world experience.
Parapsychology being the scientific study of the paranormal pheonomena's so we can all judge whether or not they are valid. ( Ghosts )
MH , yes this is a fraud show.
Not all apparitions can move or touch things but they say when you see one for a split second it is just a Re anactment of what that person did when they were alive.
Which is why they walk through the walls as in there time there would have stood a doorway or window.
Hope this helps.
