It's ok for kids to make a card at school or nursery, but once the kids are older it's just a hallmark holiday IMO, very little thought goes into it. It's jut another marketing scam designed to guilt people into spending money on tat. Be nice to your mum all year round instead!!
Yes my mum also died in 1979 aged just 34, I will be visiting her grave, I think about her every day. I am now a mum to two boys or men I suppose now and I agree that as long as they are good to you and show their love all year round there is no need for gifts or cards on Mothering Sunday, it has become too much of a pressure on youngsters....just a bunch of daffodils is lovely. I hate the way the rubbish CDS are advertised just before Mothers Day, its all about money!!
Like many others on AB I don't have a mother now to give a card to or buy a bunch of daffs for, she wouldn't want fresh cut flowers when she was alive nor would she be impressed now, she preferred to leave flowers growing in her garden. I have sent my Godmother a card, one thats says 'To my Godmother on Mothers Day', she never had any children and is 84 now and so she appreciates my cards.
Once again I can't vote in an AB poll, hey-ho
