Fish pedicures

I have noticed places offering pedicures by living fish springing up all over the place. They are advertidsed as being very safe but I read that in the USA some states have banned the use of fish on health grounds. i would be interested in ABers opinions

Pedicures by FISH ? What a weird idea, so you shove your tootsies in a paddling pool full of piranhas then just sit back and read a paper while they get on with it ?

In the link they say that people used to get scared when they used to have 200 fish in the tank as they used to swarm and cover the feet in a feeding frenzy and I can imagine that you wouldn't know whether they were eating just the dead skin or chewing your feet to the bone!

Having benifitted from the free service offered by wild fish in the Seychelles I should point out that they don't just do feet!

Jomifil are you saying what i think you're saying? If you are then I have to remind you that these fish eat dead skin and parasites so letting them near a particular "sensitive' region of yours could lead to you being infected with a parasite and infection is a high possibility and an embarrassing story to tell your doctor. Besides some fish have really sharp teeth, nuff said.

As any scuba diver knows, jomifl is right. Fish definitely enjoy a little nibble!! I do wonder how these fish restrict their fine dining experience only to dead skin! :o/
