I live on the south coast of the uk around south east cornwall, The object is located south west in direction, with the naked eye it flashes red, blue, white in colouration. Binoculars don't help as hand shake creates a spirograph effect lol, but it still confirms colour change. It is fixed and not moving so I don't think its a plane or helicoptor?

Any ideas, I don't know much about constellations.

Thanks in advance

"The ancient Greeks observed that the appearance of Sirius heralded the hot and dry summer, and feared that it caused plants to wilt, men to weaken, and women to become aroused" lol
Oh, right, ok.

... at 40° off the horizon, it'd be a fekkin' high beacon (unless you were right next to it, lol ).

Maybe. I was only kidding, I guessed you'd missed that part :-))
Seems 'what..the?' has been abducted by aliens ... oh well, at least we know what it was now.

actually I am looking right out to sea but it is in the sky not the sea for sure, the military are always involved off the coast here with battleships just waiting or actual military exercises are practiced too,

Is it normal for any star to change colours, just looked at colour change and it's more of a merging of colours constantly hard to keep track off, not like segmented red flash, blue flash etc it's just a colour mixture

Weird when I just went to look I thought it had gone but it had just become really small, it's changing size a lot now?
Question Author
lol naz ...i've been probed in places not to mentioned on AB lol
You say SW(ish) can you identify Orion's Belt?

If so, where is the light in relation to that in the sky? (left/right/above/below etc)
Question Author
no sorry as I say not really very good at that
Can you identify it here? ... http://img20.imagesha.../img20/5473/skysw.jpg
The 3 bright horizontal stars bottom-right of the pic is Orion's Belt, by the way, lol
