I can see something in the sky

I live on the south coast of the uk around south east cornwall, The object is located south west in direction, with the naked eye it flashes red, blue, white in colouration. Binoculars don't help as hand shake creates a spirograph effect lol, but it still confirms colour change. It is fixed and not moving so I don't think its a plane or helicoptor?

Any ideas, I don't know much about constellations.

sirus is too low in that picture in comparision to mine so it would have to be one of the middle ones in the picture

That's the sky from West Wales, as it was a couple of minutes before I posted that pic, so yours won't have been vastly different.

I can post you a pic with more 'titles' on it (if you want) if you knew which star it was (assuming it is actually a star we're trying to locate).

Last saturday at around 10pm I saw a very low star that was distinctly blue, in the west. Been wondering about it, but seeing your link Naz, think it was at a similar angle from Orion, so probably was Sirius, never seen it look so blue though

I think you'll find it's actually the ed trying to nick you mallow, he does have a sweet tooth, maybe the AB towers vending machine has broken

It's quite normal for stars to rapidly change colour as you watch them, especially when they are lower in the sky. As to size - on the clearest nights, a star will appear brighter, and thus it will seem to be bigger, than when the atmosphere is less clear.
