...er...Cleese?
no
His family’s surname was previously "Cheese" but his father changed it to "Cleese" in 1915 upon joining the Army. Therefore, he was born as John Cleese.
No problem, but apologies to Nom for diversions :o(

Builder... What, no queso or formatge? ;)
John
Ah ... formatge. Is that Spanish or Catalan?
It's Catalan. The (Castilian) Spanish for cheese is queso.
Question Author
It's Valenciano.

I forgot to mention M&S Colossal cashews ...
Thanks Mark. Must have queso then, and formatge, if I can find any in deepest Devon.
NoM, have you tried stuffing your dates with marzipan?
Nothing much. We'll buy some cheeses but we do that anyway. Also some extra booze but we don't need an excuse for that either...

I find there's too much 'real' food to be eaten so never have room for extras so stopped buying them. Plus, the shops are only closed for a couple of days.
Question Author
No I've not tried Marzipan but that sounds like a good idea.
Mussels and a bottle of Champers for brekkie. Cheese, and lot's of it, including, but not exhaustive: cheddar. brie, stilton, austrian smoked, edam, bavarian smoked. Eaten with Crackers, breadsticks, pickles, twiglets, cheeselets, pringles, cheese straws, sausage rolls, various dips and some pate.

Wines will be: another bottle of bubbles, Oyster Bay, Montana Sauvignon Blanc, probably a bottle of Pouilly-Fume and Chassagne-Montrachet. More drinks to include Buffalo Trail, and in my family it's traditional to get rather merry on Malibu, washed down with cider!

Thats my plan, but I will probably be asleep by 10am after the Champagne, and miss most of the day! THAT seems to be tradition for me :)
Im hoping Xmas will be over in a flash so we can get on with life, we may buy a good bottle of whiskey for an Irish coffee or two and we may have a bit of turkey, apart from that we really have more enjoyable ways of spending money.
We don't have anything different really and certainly no turkey :)
I usually buy a few sweets ,extra fruit and some assorted cheeses and cold cuts I'm not a lover of all this rich food they heave out at Christmas .
I'll probably buy extra whisky though !
All the food and drinks suggested sound delicious, but I never do a Christmas lunch. Will be having a Lancashire hotpot with all the additions, like pickled red cabbage, siver skin onions and beetroot.Followed by rice pudding with sultanas. Then I shall hit the vino.

Enjoy everyone -- and happy times all round.
A bar of galaxy bubbles, on the off chance I get a chocolate craving.
Bugger, my Xmas order has been with Waitrose for about a month, I logged on tonight to add to it and it tells me the sea bass I ordered is not available in the York store.............I'm now going to sulk.
Good to see that everyone will be tucking in to some really nice food this Christmas. Not sure what we're having yet, but it won't be much. I lost my job this year, so the plan is to have loads of roasties with veg and scrounge a bit of meat from somewhere. Please don't feel sorry for us, there are more deserving cases, just be happy with what you've got.
