What would you do in all honesty?

I was having a coffee waiting for my parents as they'd got hospital appointment, while I was waiting I heard this from the two ladies at the table behind me.

The ladies daughter had ordered her a Kindle for Christmas, via a well kown internet store and paid by credit card. The store has sent one to the mother, as asked for by he daughter, but they've also sent her one as well. both invoices state there's nothing to pay and she was only charged for one. Would you, if you were the daughter send the one erroneously sent to you, or not?

I would 'fess up. IMO, if you take possession of something that you have not paid for it is theft.

I know Amazon are a shower of whatevers, but it just wouldn't sit well with me, no matter who it was. Just because they massage the tax system it doesn't excuse me from stealing from them.

But that is just my opinion, if others are happy to keep it, I really don't have a problem with them doing that. It's just not what I would do.

I know I'm daft but I'm with 2sp. Once ordered a dinner service and two came. When I phoned the store they asked if I would like to keep the second one...no charge.

When I retired the company sent me a framed long service certificate, and £250 of gift vouchers. The following week I received another certificate and another £250 of vouchers. When I rang up to tell them they told me to keep the vouchers as they had no way of paying them back into the system. My old boss thought I was mad for even telling them.
Like 2sp I'd ring Amazon and tell them.............

Think it depends if it worries you or not - it would worry me so I'd have to notify the company. If they let me keep it they I would be able to enjoy 'my bit of luck', otherwise not. Personal decision I suppose.

Well, my four-penn'oth - I couldn't just keep it, I'd have to phone them and tell them, if they told me to keep it then that's a different matter!

(To avoid being sued, I'd just like to point out that Amazon are doing nothing illegal where their tax is concerned. The morality of it could be debated, but they are not breaking the law. The government really need to tighten up the loopholes.)
