ummm was only saying to a friend the other day.. I've never even tasted a pork pie in my life (50 years and counting)
I love sprouts in bubble and squeak...
Don't bother, Ducksie. They are on my 'eat only if you're just about to collapse of hunger' list :-)
Christmas and Easter Dinner are my two favourite meals of the year... nothing gets left on my plate even things that I can't spell or remember what they're called.

A Mince pie is all I can manage afterwards at Christmas.
just as I guessed ummmm, I'm not a lover of pastry either so that along with pork would turn me off
I like roast pork (had that for dinner today) it's just the sausages/bacon/porkpies...I don't like.

I will eat ALL my veg though :-)

I only started eating Yorkshire puddings quite recently...
Arksided, I don't think I like Christmas food in general, I hate the cake, with all that fruit, the pudding and the mince pies-wouldn't eat them in a fit of starvation, I do like the sherry trifle though, but I can make that any sunday for desert
I like trifle :-) But my fav is jelly and ice cream...
There are pork pies and pork pies. 30 years ago there was a deli near us which baked its own pork pies. The queues stretched outside the shop and along the street. When they came out of the oven the smell was delicious, but the staff would not sell them for half an hour until the jelly had cooled. The owner retired and took his recipe with him. The shop closed not long after.
Yorkshire puddings, now there's a story.. I had a friend from Wales once, invited me to dinner, was lovely roast beef etc, there was so much, we don't do yorkshire puds here :) but she said 'would I like so many yorkshire puds', I replied "O hell no, I'll be too stuffed after the dinner for pudding" - needless to say it was an anecdote in the pubs of the village for a few weekends and brought on great laughter with everyone
Another thing that I love about Christmas dinner is I don't have to do any cooking. Not keen on Christmas pudding, trifle in fact most sweet things I do like a Mince pie though ;-)

In fact I'm shopping later today gonna' look out for some.
Your mince pies won't last til Christmas Arksided :)
It's the same with sausages and bacon, BlackAdder, you can get some great quality stuff....but no matter how high the quality I just don't like it very much.
They probably won't ;-)
Ducksie....I think that's why I was never keen on Yorkshires, they weren't really something ever given to us.
you can delete the probably ;)
Now I think of it....if it weren't for steaks I would gladly never eat meat again !
We don't do traditional here... as has been said we can have a 'Christmas; dinner any time...it's no longer a feast to look forward to.

Let's do an alternative meal...something you wouldn't take for granted or could do every weekend !

I'm off to get my thinking cap on...
You're right there ummmm, we never had them, still don't, it's not an 'Irish' thing really, mashed spuds, veg, meat and gravy did the job for us - not forgetting the roasters
Lol, Indeed :-)
You can't beat Yorkshire pud with onion gravy...
