morning, Monday and the working week starts for some. I hope that you are in fine fettle and that your day is a good one. Anybody have plans for today, apart from those who might be working. I have only the chores to do later and that's it. it's too cold at the moment to venture far. Will sort out the Christmas cards, and see in the next day or two who to post to. It does seem a little early, but at least i won't forget anyone...

Morning Emmie. I haven’t even slept yet, not a wink, even tho I’m exhausted. Came to bed to read at 11pm and just never dropped off. Have to be up at 7am so I’m desperately hoping I will doze off for half hour at least before then!
Question Author
morning smow, go back to bed and don't read, switch everything off including the computer and see how you go. Why do you have to be up at 7am?
I already am in bed lol, I deliberately didn’t get up, and turned everything off to try and sleep, but after hours laying here it was just getting silly, so I put lamp on and came online for a bit. As for 7, I always always get up and make Mr Smow a coffee whilst he is showering for work. I know I don’t have to, but I always feel guilty lying in bed whilst he is hauling himself out into the freezing early morning to commute into London & the office, so I just like to get up and do that for him.
Question Author
after 7 when you have made the coffee and he has gone to work, can you not slip back into bed, sleep is needed and unless you want to become ill suggest you take my advice.
Yes I can Emmie. And yes since being ill he will always tell me to not get up when he does but I just can’t help it, I like to see him off to work. But yes, I’ll do that, feed the kittens etc then try and have an hour or so then. Have you managed to get any sleep?? X
Question Author
good idea, get some sleep - its a vital part of one's health.
I have had enough sleep for now, i went to bed early and slept for about 4 hours, got up couple of times, then slept some more, so feel ok
Yeh 4 hours would be all I need these days, after so many years of insomnia it’s a positive luxury!! Mr Smow can s,eep for England - literally can go to bed and sleep 11 hours solid. I don’t even know what that is like!!
Question Author
you should stay off anything that keeps your mind active if you want a decent nights rest. I go off to sleep quickly but don't sleep longer than 7 hours with a couple of breaks in between to usually go to the toilet.
Question Author
perhaps after he has gone to work, switch computer off and see if you can get some sleep... you need it to function well. I often drop off for 40 winks during the day as well,
Yes i only ever use my iPad these days, rarely my laptop, so if I go back for an hour or so at 7 ish I won’t take it with me. But I agree, it’s far too easy to keep peeking online when it’s nearby.
And I never ever dozed off during the day before hospital but since being home I have done quite a few times.
Question Author
your body is telling you need sleep, if you doze during the day, don't feel guilty - its best to get some sleep than none at all.
I know, don’t know why I always feel so guilty. Deep down I know it’s probably because Mr Smow is working all the hours god sends, if not out and about then in his office here at home, yet he never once moans or complains.
Which is why I try to do absolutely everything else possible from home lol, till I can work again.
Anyway, still have Xmas shopping to finish!
Question Author
let him do his thing, work is what he does, no need to worry about his sleep pattern, but yours should be something to be somewhat worried about, have you tried sleeping tablets. I mean i wouldn't ordinarily recommend them but they may be a short term solution.
Question Author
i have done all there is to be done about Christmas, cards written and will post in the next day or two.
Doctor prescribed me sleeping tablets for the first time ever about 9 or 10 months ago. Just one lot, think it was about 12 tablets. I only used 1 or 2 but when I got home from hospital I did use them a couple of times to help try and sleep with the pain. They did help slightly.
And I’ve written most cards, but won’t post till 1st Dec, not even neighbours ones.
Question Author
i confess i won't take sleeping tablets, i was offered some last year, but threw them in the bin, as i had had them once before and they made me feel like a zombie.
These ones were quite mild I think as they didn’t do anything like that. In fact I wouldn’t have even known I’d taken them. Can’t remember the name of them.
