Hi, same here too, I write all the cards out, but when my mother-in-law was alive I insisted that my husband wrote out her's even though I'd chose and bought it. x x x :-)
I'm old fashioned, I wish people merry Christmas by saying merry Christmas to them directly, saves all this nonsense of buying cards and stamps and spending yet more money on cards for people you haven't seen or heard of in years.
Me ....if I were to peg out tomorrow no one anywhere would ever get another card for Christmas ,birthdays or anything.....ever !
I think my menfolk think there is a gnome in our loft that lives there and does all these sort of things by magic.
ps: and isn't it amazing when the grandkids love thier pressies the blokes end up playing with them and say "i knew you'd like that, i helped choose it!!) when it's us who spend all day looking for the right ones to get!...
Oh well, Im not the only one so far..lol. Im like you DW, I wont touch the lights so he has to do those. cat-woman Snap! After I lost my parent's I just could'nt bear to write out a card to my inlaws, that was years ago but I still cant do it so that's 1 my hubby has to do!. Yep,guess who does all the parcels etc? Shaney, how right your are. I told my old man one year he ought to do the cards for a change, his reply? Xmas cards should be banned, any excuse eh?
OOH Ratter, Shame on you:-) Do you go around people's houses wishing em a merry xmas? Just wondering. Originally Xmas cards were for people who's relative's and friend's were oversea's,so why do we send cards to neighbours we see everyday? Daft really eh?
I write the cards to my relatives; husband writes to his and we divvy up the friends. That's what we do with birthday cards, too. It took a few years to develop the rhythm, but now he knows if he slouches off, his mum won't let him hear the end of it. **I love her**
Very interesting replies, and sort of confirmed my observations, that in most families it is the woman who writes and sends the cards. (In our household it is like Willa's my wife does her friends and relations, I do mine).
But Christmas (not counting the religious celebrations) is generally a girlie thing. In the next few weeks, look in any office where it is all blokes, and see how many decorations, cards, etc. there are up. The do the same for any office where it is mainly women. See what I mean?
reinganum, I reckon you're right about the blokes and no deccie's etc. My hubby's workplace is all men, needless to say,no deccie's or cards so yeah,it must be girlie thing:-)
