got to agree with uuuummmmm, the pogues fairytale of new york. fantastic song, undoubtedly the best- any sane person will agree ... simple , also, because it manages to get the lyric "faggot" into a christmas song and never gets cut out when played....... pure brilliance, exclamation marks here...

Definately the Pogues. I also like Bing Crosby's White Christmas and Cliff's Mistletoe and Wine. My fave carol is Silent Night sung in German - I dont know why but it sounds better in German!

Oh Holy Night was my late father's party piece so it gives me a hugely warm feeling everytime I hear it - usually end up in tears though. Its so powerful.

A Spaceman Came Travelling for me and Silent Night on Xmas Eve. Does anyone remember " The Little Boy That Santa Clause Forgot"? I used to bawl my eyes out when I heard that! "Drummer Boy" is a lovely carol but I have'nt been able to listen to it since the 60's after hearing about the cries and pleadings from the victims of The Moors Murders. That evil pair had Drummer Boy playing while they were torturing the children.
